Bon Accord Soft Drinks, an iconic Scottish soft drinks brand of the 20th century, has recently been revived.
The original Bon Accord was founded by the Robb family in Arbroath in 1903, as manufacturers of cordials and soft drinks. The next century saw the company become a household name throughout Scotland, known for their variety of soft drinks, until the family retired the business in 2000.
Karen Knowles, great-great granddaughter of Bon Accord’s founder and Nathan Burrough, a former chef with a family heritage of gin distilling, partnered in 2015 to reinvent Bon Accord. Born out of a desire to create great tasting, naturally flavoured and sweetened soft drinks and tonics, Bon Accord was revived and brought back in 2016.

For Fever-Tree co-founders, Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow, it all started in a bid to create the perfect gin and tonic. Following a tonic tasting in 2004 they discovered that while there was a growing variety of premium spirits, the majority of tonic waters available were mass produced and used artificial flavourings and sweeteners. Poor quality ingredients and additives such as the sweetener saccharin left a cloying taste and overpowered the subtle aromas of premium spirits.
Determined to revive the nation’s favourite cocktail, the G&T, Charles and Tim embarked on a 15 month journey searching the world for the finest ingredients and perfecting their recipe for Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water.
Since launching in 2005, Fever-Tree established itself as the mixer drink specialists, crafting a range of sixteen products with a similarly intrepid attitude: going to the ends of the earth, sourcing the highest quality natural ingredients for the best tasting mixers.
Their award-winning mixers taste clean, subtle and balanced, with authentic flavours and fine carbonation to perfectly enhance the flavour of high quality spirits. After all, if ¾ of your drink is the mixer, mix with the best.

Franklin & Sons handcrafted premium tonics and mixers are a perfect accompaniment for the most superior crafted sprits.
The first products were introduced in 1886, sold from their small family confectioners shop at 171 High Street, Rickmansworth, London. The three Franklin brothers then began selling their handcrafted range of soft drinks to great acclaim.
The brothers quickly established themselves as experts in creating authentic, high quality recipes made from delicious handpicked ingredients. An ethos which continues today by introducing the new range of premium tonics and mixers for a fantastic fusion with spirits.
Each variant is made from the beautiful spring water sourced from Staffordshire, which complements each drink and allows the subtlest of flavours to carry through. Franklin & Sons tonics have no preservatives, artificial colours, or sweeteners.
The range is presented in bespoke 200ml bottles and has the naturally refreshing taste of Franklins, whilst preserving the provenance and heritage of the brand.
The Franklin’s signature serve, ‘1886,’ combines Sloe Gin over large cubed ice with a generous pour of Franklin & Sons Sicilian Lemon Tonic to create a warming and delightfully refreshing serve.
Available at Harrods, Selfridges, Sainsbury’s and Tesco
It’s a family affair! Geraldo’s of Largs is independently owned and operated by Toni Dawson and her mother Caroline.
Established in Largs for over 17 years, this 4-Star Tourist Shop specialises in award-winning artisan ice cream, handmade chocolates and premium spirits.
Ice cream has always been a massive part of the Dawson family with Caroline starting her own ice cream business in Ayr in the 60’s. In March 2000 Toni seized the opportunity to open her own shop in Largs.
Not long afterwards Toni’s dad lost his battle with cancer. Gerald Dawson had been a very good footballer, winning 5 caps for the Scottish Showmen’s International Football League and was signed to play professionally for Preston North End. Everyone who played with him likened him to one of the world’s best Brazilian football players at that time, Geraldo Jose da Silva, and knew Gerald as Geraldo.
In January 2016 Toni took the decision to rebrand her business to Geraldo’s with a brand launch gin festival in Nov 2016 which was a sell-out success, then went on to be recognised as Business of the Year in 2016 by the Association of Scottish Business Women.
The shop now offers an increasing range of more than 50 Scottish gins and continues to be a huge supporter of the GINdustry across Scotland and beyond.
The construction of a £1 million holiday home gifted to families who have children with cancer has started following the fundraising success of It’s Good 2 Give.
The charity run by volunteer fundraiser Lynne McNicoll OBE has turned the turf on a plot of land on the banks of Loch Venacher and John Dennis Construction have started the seven month schedule of works to create The Ripple Retreat. The new build project will create a three bedroomed 260m2 modern home which has been designed to exceptional standards by award winning architect, Tony Kettle, the designer of the Falkirk Wheel. 40 families are expected to use the retreat every year for short breaks of up to 7 nights each and the building will be ready for its first visitors in March 2016.
We still desperately need your help throughout our build project. Can you supply interior fittings? Sponsor a room? Talk to Lynne McNicoll on 07901555352 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Great Drinks, Anywhere.
Summerhouse Drinks is based on the Aberdeenshire coast where they make all their drinks from scratch in their SALSA accredited facility.
‘Walter Gregor’s Tonic Water’ is named after the Victorian minister in the Parish of Pitsligo where Summerhouse Drinks is based. It uses mint grown in Walter Gregor’s former garden as well as a number of other botanicals to give it a light and crisp flavour. As the parish is located less than half a mile from the sea, it also picks up salty notes which means that it pairs particularly well with coastal and island gins. They also make bespoke, small run batches with customers including Harvey Nichols, Banchory Beer Festival and Partridges of London.
