The national independent awards programme for Scottish gin has launched its 2022 line up with a promise to recognise and reward achievements in the Scottish gin industry.
The 6th annual Scottish Gin Awards has revealed its full programme of dates and categories for the awards which this year include new business categories and a range of new independent judges. The programme rewards individuals and teams working in the Scottish gin industry and is the largest event of its kind in the sector.
The awards retain their commitment to judging integrity and independence with the recruitment of a number of new experienced tasters and the continued role of an independent Chair, carried out by Adam Hardie, Head of Food and Drink at Johnston Carmichael Business Advisers.
Two new awards Best New Product of The Year and Ready to Drink Product of the Year will, for the first time, involve both visual and taste judging covering branding, packaging and promotion.
The blind tasting competition presents 9 categories including popular London Dry, Distilled, High Strength and Old Tom gin types along with the flavoured gins and gin liqueur categories. The process which involves the live simultaneous tasting of over 300 products during an event held in Edinburgh, is independently audited by international flavour standard consultants, Cara Technology.

This year’s winners will be announced at the glittering celebration and awards dinner which takes place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 10th November 2022. Tickets are now available to book here.
The awards will again support The BEN, the Benevolent Society of the Licensed Trade of Scotland, which supports people of all ages who have worked in the licensed trade for at least three years full-time with beneficiaries receiving annual financial assistance as well as discretionary grants for emergency situations.
