The founder of the Scottish Gin Awards has been installed as a member of The Gin Guild.
Kirsten Speirs, Managing Director of KDMedia and creator of the national awards programme, has been installed as a member of The Gin Guild which was formed in 2012 by the Worshipful Company of Distillers, a traditional London Livery Company incorporated by Royal Charter in 1638.
She joins over 500 individuals from across the world who together work to protect, promote and invigorate the distillation of quality gin.
Kirsten was recommended to the Gin Guild by Tom Nicol, one of the original Master Blenders who created Tanqueray Gin and who has served as a judge of the Scottish Gin Awards since its beginnings in 2016. She was presented with her sterling silver juniper sprig by Desmond Payne MBE, Master Distiller of Beefeater Gin at a special ceremony at London's Guildhall.
Kirsten commented;
“It’s a great privilege to join the Gin Guild and an honour to be flying the flag for Scottish Gin at home and in London.”
The Worshipful Company of Distillers is created in association with the four biggest gin producing companies Bacardi, Diageo, William Grant & Sons and Pernod Ricard.
